Oyster Pond

Vacation Rentals in Oyster Pond

A sheltered natural harbour on the island's quiet eastern shore — where the day starts with sunrise over the Atlantic and the French side is ten minutes away.

1 property available

Oyster Pond sits on the eastern edge of Sint Maarten, wrapped around a deep natural harbour that has drawn sailors for generations. It is the most secluded of the neighbourhoods we host in — no strip, no crowds, no traffic. What it has instead is water on three sides, a marina full of masts, and one of the best beaches on the Dutch coast a short walk away.

This is also the corner of the island where the Dutch and French sides meet. Orient Bay, Le Galion and the restaurants of Quartier d'Orléans are all within a short drive, which makes Oyster Pond an unusually good base for guests who want to explore both halves of the island rather than settle into one. Our Oyster Pond property is a waterfront villa at Coral Beach Club, a resort community with restaurants and a grocery on site.

Why Oyster Pond

What makes it special

Sunrise over the Atlantic

Oyster Pond faces east. Mornings here open with the sun coming up over open water — the opposite rhythm to the island's sunset-facing west coast, and the reason repeat guests keep choosing this side.

A sheltered sailing harbour

The pond is a protected deep-water anchorage ringed by marina berths. Yachts come and go all day, charters leave from the docks, and the view from the waterfront never stays still for long.

Dawn Beach on your doorstep

Dawn Beach is widely considered one of the finest on the Dutch side — soft sand, reef close to shore for snorkelling, and a fraction of the crowds you'll find at Maho or Simpson Bay.

Both sides of the island

Oyster Pond straddles the border. Orient Bay, Le Galion and the French-side restaurants are a short drive north; Philipsburg and the Dutch capital's shopping are about twenty minutes west.

Common questions

About Oyster Pond

Where exactly is Oyster Pond?

On the east coast of Sint Maarten, roughly opposite the airport side of the island. It is built around a sheltered natural harbour that sits right on the Dutch–French border, so both sides of the island are easy to reach from here.

Is Oyster Pond too quiet?

It depends what you're after. There is no nightlife strip and no crowds — that is the appeal for most of our guests here. You have restaurants and a grocery within the resort community, Dawn Beach a walk away, and the busier parts of the island twenty minutes off when you want them. If you want to step out of your door into bars and clubs, Simpson Bay suits you better.

How far is Oyster Pond from the airport?

About 35 minutes by car. Oyster Pond is on the opposite coast from Princess Juliana Airport, so the transfer is longer than for our Cupecoy or Simpson Bay properties. We can arrange an airport transfer for you.

What is the beach like?

Dawn Beach, just south of the harbour, is a broad stretch of sand with reef close enough to swim out to — one of the better snorkelling spots on the Dutch side. Because it faces east it catches more surf than the calm west-coast beaches, which some guests prefer and others don't.

Does sargassum affect this side of the island?

It can. Sargassum seaweed arrives on Atlantic-facing east-coast beaches more often than on the sheltered western ones, usually between spring and late summer, and it varies week to week. We track current beach conditions on our Sargassum Watch page so you can see how things look before you travel — and the west-coast beaches are always within reach on a heavier week.

Can I get to the French side easily?

Very easily — it is one of the reasons to stay here. The border runs through Oyster Pond itself, and Le Galion, Orient Bay and Quartier d'Orléans are all a short drive. No formalities, no checkpoint.

I own a property in Oyster Pond — do you manage homes on this side of the island?

Yes, and we are actively taking on homes in Oyster Pond. We run a deliberately small portfolio across the Dutch side, managed by the two of us on-island rather than by a call centre — listings and pricing, guest communication, housekeeping, inspections and maintenance. Oyster Pond is a market we know well and want more of, so if you own here we would like to talk. Our property management page has the detail, or contact us directly for a straight answer on what your home could earn.
